The sad news was spread over the town last Friday morning of the death of Mrs. T. J. BURKETT, and the many friends and acquaintances were greatly shocked to hear of it. Mrs. BURKETT had been sick for only a short time and her death was unexpected. The end came about six o'clock Friday morning and the cause of her death was blood poisoning. Mrs. BURKETT was just forty-one years of age and leaves a husband, city marshall BURKETT and seven children, the youngest being a babe of two week.

The funeral took place Saturday morning at 11 o'clock and the deceased was followed to the grave by a large concourse of relatives and friends, quite number having come from a distance.

The services at the grave were conducted by Rev. H. M. Rowland of Flatonia and also at the house. Some beautiful hymns were rendered by the Union choir. The weather was cold and disagreeable but that did not prevent a large crowd from witnessing the last sad rites.

The Pythian Sisters of which Mrs. BURKETT was a member attended in a body and covered the grave with flowers.

A good woman has gone to her eternal home and will be mourned by all who knew her.
