Elliott Joel Berman, 91, of Atlanta passed away on July 2, 2013, after losing his battle with cancer. He was born in Montgomery, AL on January 4, 1922 and moved to Atlanta at the age of 8. Elliott was graduated from Boys High and then went on to Emory to major in accounting. In 1942 he married Rose Lee Reisman with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage last July 26. He was senior partner of a regional accounting firm. He was also a member of the original board of directors of the Schenck School. He served as Chairman of the board of directors of the Academy Theatre (of which he also served as assistant director) and also served on the board of directors of the Composers Resources, the Dekalb Council of Arts, and the Woodworkers Guild of Georgia. Elliott also served on the Grants panel of the Fulton County Arts Council. He was an award winning woodworker-furniture builder, who to the delight of his family also furnished their homes with his works. Elliott was preceded in death by his son, Neil. Surviving are his lovely wife, Rose; son, Gordon and daughter- in-law, Lenore of Roswell; granddaughters, Leigh of Roswell and Mardi Barker and her husband Neil of Macon; great-grandchildren: Josh, Jake, and Zoe Barker; brother-in-law, Donald Reisman; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Reisman and Bea Blass.
