John G. "Jack" McMaster, age 85, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2013.

Jack was born in Binghamton, NY, on October 3, 1927, son of the late Arthur McMaster and Maude Chaffee McMaster.

He was a graduate of Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Class of 1946. He would go on to enlist in the US Navy, serving two years on the USS Dayton as radioman, third class. Jack was educated at Mansfield (PA) University and the University of Delaware in Newark. He was employed by the New Castle Special School District, where he was an elementary school teacher for 33 years, retiring in 1984.
Jack and his wife enjoyed traveling, and he was active in hunting, fishing, and archery. He was also interested in all sports. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, the National Rifle Association, and the American Legion, and was a charter member of the New Castle Hundred Rod and Gun Club. He was the Delaware State Archery Champion for 1963-64.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Theresa M. Halcisak McMaster, by his dearly loved in-laws, the Halcisak and Kollesar families, and by several beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur McMaster, Robert McMaster, Dorothy Nordell, Betty McMaster, and Elinor Corey.

A memorial Mass will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 20th, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 11 am.

Entombment will be held privately at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society, c/o Our Lady of Fatima Church, 801 N. DuPont Pkwy, New Castle, DE 19720.
