A tribute to my husband of 65 years Amos T. King by his wife, Imogene King. He passed from this life to be present with the Lord and our son David T. King on July 3, 2013, at the age of 88. He was born to father John A. King and Mother Ella Clayton King in Booneville, Arkansas, July 8, 1924. He lived in this area from the age of 8. He met and married the love of his life, Imogene Trammell King, August 31, 1947, at Kiowa. They had one child, David T. King, whom preceded him in death in 1988. He loved God and taught 5th & 6th grade children in Sunday School for 48 years. He was ordained a deacon at Trinity Baptist Church and continued to serve at High Hill Baptist Church until his death. He served in many jobs in his church and always witnessed for the Lord in speech and life. He was a man of his word. He was the only person I ever knew that his job was also his hobby. He loved working on cars. He could fix anything. He served his country as Sgt. Amos T. King in the U.S. Army during World War II as a 40 mm weapons mechanic. He was a member of the American Legion in McAlester and D.A.V. in Krebs. He was the kindest person I ever knew. To quote Will Rogers he "never saw a person he didn't like." He is survived by wife, Imogene Trammell King, Daughter-in-law, Kathy King, Granddaughter, Margie King, Grandson, David T. King, II and wife, Jamie all of Idaho Falls, Idaho, also our (adopted) son & friends Mark Moy and wife, Tresa of Krebs, also Niece Carol Williams and her daughter Ronda Morrow, husband Jerry and son Deaven of Hartshorne and many, many friends and young people he taught in Sunday School. He was preceded in death by his only child, David T. King, his parents, John A. King and Ella Clayton King, 8 year old brother Georgie and 4 year old sister Alice. The family request memorials be made to the High Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 4276 High Hill Road, McAlester, OK, 74501. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Rev. James Davis. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Robert B. Thomas, V.F.W., Post # 1098. Pallbearers will be: Joey Trammell, Otis Trammell, Bobby Camp, Eddie Camp, Jerry Morrow and Dennis Fink. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of High Hill Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service & Crematory.
