He is survived by his wife, Evelyn L. Turman whom he married on July 23, 1960. They were childhood loves and were married for 52 years. He is also survived by three children, Belinda Turman of Winchester, VA, James Turman, Jr. and his wife, Carrie Lee of Cross Junction, VA and Jeremy Turman and his wife, Martha of Middletown, VA; three sisters, Vickie Adams and husband, Larry of Gaylax, VA, Brenda Williams and her husband, Donnie and Judy Hill and her husband, Harry both of Floyd, VA and six grandchildren, Joshua, Colton and Sarah Whittington of Winchester, Chase Turman of Cross Junction and Jericho and Jordan Turman of Middletown.
James was the son of Mawyer and Winnie Turman who preceded him in death along with his sister, Connie M. Turman and his brother, Donald M. Turman.
James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. No one was ever a stranger to him. He worked for Tiger Tank Lines, Bonnie Motor Express, Time D.C., Rich's, Consolidated Freight, Shine Transport and Turman Trucking. He was a member of the Front Royal Moose Lodge, Winchester Fraternal Order of the Eagles 824 and Teamster Local 29.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, July 5, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Hickey and Pastor Chuck Davis officiating. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Dalton - Turman Cemetery in Indian Valley, VA.
