Lane was raised in St. George, Utah where he began to rodeo at a young age and found a love for horses and animals. He competed in the Dixie Junior Livestock Show and FFA. He enjoyed going hunting and fishing with his brother and father. He especially loved going to the ranch with his Grandpa Wade on the Tule Desert and at Barclay. Lane participated in High School Rodeo and competed at the National Finals in 2012 in team roping. He made a lot of close friends along the rodeo trail, especially developing a special bond with his Mother while traveling the highways of Utah. Sheila began calling Lane "Daddy Burgess" because he was always trying to keep her in line.
Lane graduated from Desert Hills High School in 2012. He was a "straight A" student and was nicknamed "Dex" by his friends because of his vast knowledge. He received an Academic Scholarship and had just completed his first year at Dixie State University where he was working toward an engineering degree. He was employed by Cal Ranch where he received employee of the month for April/May and was loved by his fellow employees and customers. He was also employed by Brian Prisbrey doing heating and air conditioning. He worked long hours on the weekdays so he could have weekends off to help on the family ranch where he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He worked hard and played hard.
Lane was a special young man that was loved and respected by all that knew him. He will truly be missed, but we know he will continue to be with all of us.
Lane is survived by his parents, brother Kason, grandparents LaVar and Kaye Wade all of St. George, and Linda Burgess of Las Vegas, Nevada and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his Grandfather Walter Lloyd Burgess.
