Lana Kay Watkins -Obituary- -San Angelo-

It was no coincidence that on Tuesday night there was one lone star shining brightly in the sky for all to see. This star appeared at the same time that Lana Kay Bolin Watkins passed from this life into her eternal home in heaven with Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Lana was born on July 18, 1943, in Roswell, New Mexico to Willis Delle and Glenda Faye Lowe Bolin. Growing up she was an Air Force brat and at times attended more than one school during the same year. It was during her senior year at San Angelo Central High School that she met the man she was destined to be with, Jerry Dean Watkins. He married the "girl with the coke-bottle figure" that September in 1961 and they spent the next 44 years sharing life together. Jerry preceded her in death on January 12, 2006. During their life together they raised and are survived by four daughters: Lori Kay (Don) Wilson, Lesli (Eldon) Jones, Deanna (Sam Sablan) Watkins, and Margie (Michael) Wagnon. Lana is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Dillon, Samantha, Savannah, Susannah Mann, Denver Moore, Madalyn and Caleb Jones, Mason and Maloree Mills, Coleson, Miah, Coltyn and Miriam Wagnon; and 4 great-grandchildren: Kurtis Mann, Genevieve Jones, Natasha and Christopher Moore. In addition, Lana is survived by her brother, Ron (Janet) Bolin and sister, Vicki (Dwain) Morrison. Also surviving her is her husband, Andre Balogh. Taking the Great Commission seriously, close neighbors and friends lead Lana to salvation in 1966. She spent the rest of her life learning about Jesus and God and serving them in various roles at Belmore Baptist Church and at Paul Ann Baptist Church. She raised her daughters to do the same thing and made sure they were involved in the church while they were growing up and each were saved before they left home and went into adulthood. For reasons we will never understand this side of heaven, Lana died at the too young age of 69 years, 11 months, and 16 days on July 2, 2013. The loss of this courageous, vivacious, devoted woman would be more than her family could bear were it not for the words of our Lord in Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
