He was born on February 1, 1930 in Abingdon, the son of Lloyd and Frances (Quinn) Johnson. He first married Louise Riley. He then married Dorothy Jean Lindsey in 1957, she preceded him in death in 1980. He later married Gloria Krase-Nehring in June 17, 2006. She survives.
Also surviving is one son, Frankie Johnson of Galesburg; one daughter, Peggy Lee Carter of Newsport News, Va; step children, Lisa Heiderman, Susan Polangon, Robert and Erich Gutermuth, Mary Templeton, Annemarie Hooper and Stephanie Glass; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Robert C. Johnson and Irvin C. Johnson, and one brother.
Junior worked as a handyman, helped area farmers and worked security at the coal mines. He had lived in the Abingdon and Galesburg areas most of his life and he had also lived in the state of Virginia. He loved his family and his little dog, Tony.
Cremation was accorded. Graveside service will be 11:30 am Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in the Abingdon Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Mary Runge will officiate. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
