Gayle Whitsitt "Whitt" Brewer, 77, of 1221 W. Main St., died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Madison, the son of John and Ada Smith Brewer. He was a self-employed auto body repairman for more than 35 years, owning and operating Whitt's Auto Body. He also had worked for the former Risk's Garage; Bennett Motors; and McCubbin Motors. He was a member of the American Legion, Jefferson Post 9; and the National Street Rod Association. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are two sons, Bob Brewer of Madison and Pat Brewer of Mount Vernon, Ohio; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildrren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Robena M. "Beanie" Storie Brewer, Feb. 25, 2005. They were married Feb. 28, 1953.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home, with burial in Springdale Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and from noon Sunday until time of the service, at the funeral home.
A flag presentation will be conducted at the graveside by the American Legion, Jefferson Post 9.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Lung Association. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
