Patsy Clara Powers, age 64, went to be with the Lord, Friday, April 15, 2005, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle. She was born August 10, 1940 in Washington County, Virginia where she had lived her entire life.

She was the daughter of the late Clarence Roscoe and Annie Gertrude Harless Barrett. Patsy had worked at the William King Grade School, Johnston Memorial Hospital, Cedar Lawn Nursing Home, Abingdon Manor and the Martha Washington Inn. She also volunteered at the Second Harvest Food Bank and was a life long member of the Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Chester (Bruce) Powers; four children, David Powers, Mark Powers, Mary Ellen Powers and Billy Powers; five brothers and sisters, Fannie Marie Stevens, Carolyn Ann Davis, John Franklin Barrett and twins, Carl and Carlene Barrett.

Patsy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by: Her son, Timothy Bruce Powers and wife Gail of Abingdon, Va. Her daughter, Shelia Osborne and husband, Ray L., Jr. of Abingdon, Va. Five brothers, Clarence David Barrett of Salisbury, MD., James Roger Barrett of Nokesville, Va., Larry Clayton Barrett of Abingdon, Va., William Gerald Barrett of Saltville, Va. and Michael Henry Barrett of Abingdon, Va. Five sisters, Ellen B. Parker of Saltville, Va., Mary Frances Quinn of Biloxi, Miss., Barbara Jane Armstrong of Abingdon, Va., Linda Barrett Roark of Abingdon, Va. and Julie Elizabeth Roark of Abingdon, Va. Five grandchildren, Heather Elaine Williams, Amanda Gail Duty, Philip L. Osborne, Jeffery Bruce Osborne, Joshua Powers Four great grandchildren, Chad (Arron) Williams, Jr., Timothy (Austin) Duty, Christian T. Powers and Duke Landon Osborne 47 Nieces and nephews, Several great nieces and nephews

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, April 18, 2005, at 2:00 PM in the Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert Tolar, Jr., Rev. John Price and Rev. Paul White officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
