Benjamin Hearld Gray, age 83, of the Rosa Community, passed away at his residence on July 2, 2013. Born in Blount County, AL he was the son of the late Joe S. and Ida Belle Mize Gray. Mr. Gray worked and retired from Conner's Steel in Birmingham as a Rolling Mill. He was a member of Rosa United Methodist Church.
Besides his parents he is also preceded in death by step mother, Eula McRae Gray; brothers, Willie Gray, Walter Gray, Ray V. Gray, James Gray, Joe Gray and Ray Gable; sisters, Beatrice McCrary, Ruth Smith, Lois Butts, Lottie Gray and Clarice Gable.
Mr. Gray is survived by wife, Carol Gray of Rosa; son, Benjamin H. Gray, Jr. (Allison) of Moody; daughter, Sharlene Gray of Birmingham; step son, Jack Green (Valary) of Rosa; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Eula Mae Neal (Carroll) of Holly Pond, Effie Lee Pitts (Ed) of Pinson and Bobbie Jean Pitts of Mountain Brook; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Bro. Jerry Gargus will officiate funeral services on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11AM from the Rosa United Methodist Church with burial following at Dailey's Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Gray will lie in state at Blountsville Funeral Home on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 6PM until 8PM and on Saturday from 8AM until 9AM. Mr. Gray will lie in state at Rosa United Methodist Church on Saturday from 10AM until service time.
Pallbearers: Jamey Pitts, Danny Lawrence, Bob Rogers, Jack Green, Chad Murphree and Mark Neal.
