Mrs. Ruth Carlton Miller, 79, 212 Railroad Street, Rockmart, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003. Mrs. Miller was born Feb. 21, 1924 (marker has 1925) in Polk County, daughter of the late Mrs. Lena Holland Carlton and the late Samuel Lamar Carlton. She was of the Baptist Faith, a life lone resident of Polk County and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Miller. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Karen Smith and her husband Reggie of Fayetteville, GA and Mrs. Melinda Sultan and her husband Stig of Marietta; sister, Mrs. Emily Shepard of Aragon; thee grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephew. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10 in the Chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with the Dr. Bill Clinton officiating. Interment was in the family lot of Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers: Lamar Shepard, Ryan Shepard, Bob Barrett, Tommy Pilgrim and Larry Miller. Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (The Rockmart Journal, Nov. 19, 2003)
