A Tennessee Death Certificate written for a Thomas Starnes gives evidence that it was one and the same Thomas Starnes, husband of Willie Hale. This "Thomas Starnes" was a widower, a resident of Alexandria, Dekalb County, Tennessee and died of "broncheopneumonia" at Lebanon, Wilson County, Tennessee. He was interred at Liberty, Dekalb County, Tennessee. His parents were listed as "unknown". Unfortunately the birth date of this Thomas Starnes is not correct unless the attending physician simply either was told the wrong date or made a mistake in writing. The birth was listed on the death certificate as 01 July 1861. Every census from 1880 on showed Thomas as older than his wife Willie and the 1855 year on the cemetery transcription looks correct when compared with census. I have put down the death certificate date of death as I believe with the preponderance of above evidence that this is the Thomas Starnes husband to Willie. Thomas was alive at Willie's death in 1934 because he signed as informant on her death certificate.
