Stephen Theodore Priest, 80, of Hagerstown, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 20, 1926, in Washington County, he was the son of the late George Michael and Celia (Trekel) Priest.

Mr. Priest was a 1944 graduate of Hagerstown High School, and attended Hagerstown Community College after serving with the U.S. Navy in Japan during World War II.

He retired from Bell Atlantic in 1985 after 37 1/2 years of service.

He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.

He was a member of Retired Bell Atlantic Pioneers, BPO Elks 378, Eagles Inc., Clear Spring American Legion Post 222 and South Mountain Rod and Gun Club, and was a life member of the NRA.

His hobbies included hunting, crabbing and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Grace (Witmer) Priest; one son, Nathan Priest at home; three daughters, Judy Wilson and husband, Les, of Hagerstown, Candy Moffett and husband, Tim, of Greencastle, Pa., and Susan Cramer of New Baltimore, Mich.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Priest; and three brothers, Peter, Russell and George.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
