Sept 2 1925 - Emmetsburg Palo Alto Tribune - Mr. Jeremiah E. Vaughan died at the home of his sister at Ogden on Friday Aug 28. He was ill since July 16 and went to Ogden so that his sister might assist in caring for him. His wife died 12 years ago. He had no daughters.
About 11 years ago Mr Vaughan was very seriously injured in a runaway. His chest was crushed and his attending physician had no hope for his recovery for many weeks. He rallied, however, and seemed to wholly recover, but this injury was the primary cause of his death.
Funeral services were conducted at the Assumption church here on Monday morning July 31st. Very Rev. J.G. Murtagh officiated. The pall bearers were James Millea, Mike Fleming, John Brown, Mike Daley, John Joyce, and Henry Joynt.
Mr. Vaughan was born April 23, 1862 and hence was over 62 years of age. He was a resident of the county for many years. His wife died 12 years ago leaving him to care for 2 little sons, their only children. He took on this responsibility with due diligence and gave them every care and attention that it was possible for him to give. He provided them a good home and they all worked together with close and friendly cooperation. Mr. Vaughan was an upright and honest man, an energetic, earnest and faithful worker, a good father, neighbor and
friend.
His two sons survive him. Stephen was on the farm with him up to ths time of his last illness. The other son left here four or five years ago. We do not know where he now resides. The Tribune extends sincere sympathy to these boys.
