Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until December 8, 1945, 1 year and 1 day after he went missing as was the custom.

Son of John Havir who resided in Forestville, Connecticut.

Robert served as a Captain, 372nd Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Hartford County, Connecticut prior to the war.

Robert was a Passenger on C-47A #42-100461 that was assigned to the 66th Troop Carrier Squadron, 433rd Troop Carrier Group.

C-47A #42-100461 took off from Biak-Mokmer Airport with a crew of 4 and 7 passengers on an operational mission to Pitu Airfield, on Morotai Island (North Malukku). They never reached their destination and are believed to have crashed at sea with all on board lost.

There was some confusion concerning the manifest for who was on this C-47. Originally there were suppose to be 12 passengers however 5 passengers never got on this plane.

Robert was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.
