Alfred Franklin Anderson Jr., 89, of Meyersdale died May 10, 2006 at Meyersdale Medical Center. Born Feb. 17, 1917 in Homestead, PA. A son of the late Alfred F. and Ida Mae (Soderlund) Anderson Sr. Preceded in death by first wife, Anna Margaret (Bodes) in 1951. Survived by widow Waive (Stevanus) and these children; Alfred F. Anderson III of Cumberland, MD, and Kerry Anderson of Richland, WA, and stepsons: Larry Bodes of Meyersdale and Harry Bodes of Bethlehem. Also survived by four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one sister, Thelma Stashak of Hazelton. He was a member of St. Paul Wilhelm Church, where he served as a Deacon and an Elder, he was also former chairman of the St. Paul Cemetery Assn., and member of the United Mineworkers. During his lifetime, he worked as a Drag Line Operator and dug hard and soft coal. He came to this area in 1935 with the CCC. Friends were received at the M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home on Sunday. He was taken to the St. Paul Wilhelm Church on Monday to lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m., time of service with Pastor Tommy Holliday officiating.
