Mary was born July 29, 1935 to the late Dr. William & Margaret (Heuer) Popelars. She was raised in Weyauwega, was Homecoming Queen and graduated Class of 1953.
She and Harold Winkler were married on September 20, 1958, in Milwaukee, WI. She dedicated her life to raising her family along with working 20 years at Chrysler Outboard in the computer department.
Mary will be remembered for her thoughtful, fun, and caring persona. She was a great storyteller and enjoyed every moment spent with family. Mary enjoyed feeding and watching birds, chipmunks, and squirrels. Other interests included flower gardening, golfing, cross stitching, and playing cards.
She is survived by her husband Harold; children Jay (Susan), Mark (Christine), Michael (Jodi); wonderful grandchildren Larry, Sara, Matthew, Elizabeth, Sam, Ryan, and Ben; precious great-granddaughters Aubrey, Eva, and Nora. She is further survived by sister, Janet (Jon) Torkelson and many extended families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Margaret; sister, Mae Linke; and brother-in-law, Herman Linke.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am officiated by the Reverend Tim O'Brien, followed by lunch served at the church. Burial will follow at the Sheridan Cemetery, Town of Farmington.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Timothy Wirtz and the staff of Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice for their compassion and wonderful care given to Mary.
