Funeral services for Vicki Janel Christensen, age 53, of Perham, MN, will be Monday, August 9, 2004 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Perham with Reverend Roger Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Memorial Cemetery. Vicki died at her home under the care of her family and Hospice, Thursday, August 5, 2004.

Vicki was born the daughter of Allyn and Anniette (Martinson) Stotesbery on May 25, 1951, in Clinton, MN.  She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton.  Vicki graduated from Clinton High School in 1969.  On October 11, 1969, she married Mark Christensen of Chokio, MN. They resided in Fergus Falls, MN for two years while Mark went to college and moved to Chokio.  Vicki taught swimming lessons at the Chokio pool and operated a daycare.  In 1978, they moved to Alexandria, MN, where she continued her daycare and swimming lesson instruction.  Vicki then taught at the Aquatics Center for the School District in Gillette, WY, where they moved in 1985, and at the Campbell County Recreation Center as a swim instructor and supervisor as well as teaching CPR/First Aid throughout the year.

In 1992, they purchased Char Mac Resort on Little Pine Lake near Perham. Vicki worked at the Prairie Wind Middle School as an EBD Para-Professional and for the Perham Area Community Center as a swim instructor, CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard Instructor.  She also worked together with the school and community center to teach area children to swim throughout the school year.

Vicki was a member of the United Methodist Church in Perham, where she was active in Choir, Bible Study groups, and Altar Guild.  She was commissioned in May 2004 as a Stephen Ministries Bible Teacher.  She loved serving God and His people.  Vicki was involved with the Relay for Life for many years.  She was the Honorary Co-Chairman for the 2002 Relay for Life, sharing the hope for people surviving cancer and inspiring others to help support the cause of curing cancer.  Vicki loved taking care of the resort with Mark.  She'd clean cabins, plant and care for the flowers, make banana bread for the resorters and enjoyed the beautiful sunset on Little Pine every day.  Vicki loved her job and the children and staff at the Middle School.  She said, "It's not just a job, it's a family."

Vicki especially loved spending time with her husband, Mark, enjoying the simple things in life together as well as their vacation to Las Vegas each year and visiting family in Minnesota and Wyoming.  She was a loving mother, full of understanding, kindness and acceptance.  Vicki had a special kind of guidance to offer whenever it was needed.  She was also an exceptional grandmother who always had an adventure planned, a hug and kiss ready, played "Shark" in the lake with the grandkids and had a warm slice of banana bread available anytime.  Vicki was an encouraging friend, had a listening heart and a compassionate smile.  She had a unique gift of making people, young and old, feel special and loved.  Vicki will be missed forever by her family, friends, and the community for her love, dedicated service and friendly Spirit.

Surviving Vicki is her husband, Mark, of Perham, MN; daughters, Michelle (Shaun) Ehrhard, of Gillette, WY, and Stephanie Christensen, of Perham, MN; sons, Christopher Christensen (Kate Soldner), of Minneapolis, MN and Titus Christensen, of Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren, Zachary, Alexis, and Tristen Ehrhard, of Gillette, WY and Jade West, of Perham, MN; her mother, Anniette Stotesbery, of Clinton, MN; brothers, Craig (Connie) Stotesbery, of Appleton, MN, Kevin (Irfan) Stotesbery, of Izmir, Turkey, and Kelly (Patti) Stotesbery, of Big Stone City, SD;  a sister, Anita (Ron) Kramer, of Morris, MN and special friends, Eric Redman, Monica Lewis and Emily Harris, of Perham, MN.
