David T. Gibbons (1939 - 2013)

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. - David T. Gibbons, 73, of Shinglehouse, formerly of Leonardo, N.J., passed away unexpectedly Thursday (June 6, 2013) at Olean General Hospital with his loving family at his side.

Born Sept. 23, 1939, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Patrick and Marie McSherry Gibbons. He married Patricia M. Dillon, who passed away July 2, 2000. On May 3, 2003, in Shinglehouse, he married Toni K. Nupp, who survives.

Mr. Gibbons was a graduate of St. Bonaventure University in Allegany. He was employed in several professions, including owning and operating the former Shinglehouse Saloon with his wife, Toni.

He was a social member of the Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530 and the St. Bonaventure Alumni Association. An avid and knowledgeable investor, Dave monitored the stock market daily. His greatest love was his family.

Surviving besides his wife are seven children, Christine M. Gibbons of Belford, N.J., David P. Gibbons of Flagstaff, Ariz., Kim L. (Mark) Voorhees of Shinglehouse, LeRoy W. (Marcia) Nupp of Bolivar, N.Y., Erica S. Hooper of Cuba, N.Y., and Draven M. Gibbons and Seth E. Gibbons, both of Shinglehouse; three grandchildren, Ethan M. Voorhees, Brooke L. Voorhees and Ryan W. Nupp; a sister, Patricia (Richard) Anastasio of Wheatley Heights, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gibbons was predeceased by his parents and first wife.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 S. Union St., Shinglehouse, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday (June 10, 2013) with Father Thomas E. Brown, pastor of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Shinglehouse, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530, P.O. Box 25, Shinglehouse, PA 16748. A fond memory of Dave may be expressed at www.virgillhowardfuneralhome.com.
