John Etna "Jack" Awbrey of Albany died Monday morning at home. Mr. Awbrey was born in Tangent to Mac and Cora (Scott) Awbrey. He grew up in the Shedd and Tangent area and attended Tangent schools.

He married Iris I. Abraham on Oct. 15, 1940 in Shedd. They moved to Albany in 1956. Mrs. Awbrey died Oct. 25, 1995.
Mr. Awbrey was a farmer and a machinist for Wah Chang. He like to hunt and enjoyed fishing, especially at East Lake in central Oregon. He also liked growing roses and sharing then with others. He was a member of the Steelworker's Union and the Albany Elks Lodge.

Surviving are daughters Cheryl Powell of Halsey and Jacqulyn Dannen of Portland; sister Dorothea Slick of Albany; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial graveside will be 10 am. Thursday at Willamette Memorial Park Mausoleum, with Chaplain Dan Wilson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson ‘s Foundation, in care of Fisher Funeral Home, P.O. Box 156, Albany, Ore., 19721.
