Obituary:
Funeral services for Ralph Allen Sims of Cordele will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services.
The committal service will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Sims, 80, passed away Saturday at his residence. He was a native of Dooly County and was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Sally Drummond Sims.
He was a veteran serving 11 years in the United States Air Force and 13 years in the National Guard. He was retired from Gold Kist Peanut Company and was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Mr. Sims is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances Buchanan Sims of Cordele; his children and their spouses, Gary and Rebecca Sims of Flower Mound, TX, Greg and Debbie Sims and Jeff Sims, all of Cordele, Denise and Jim Johnson of Windsboro, TX, and Steve and Patsy Sims of Bonaire; four brothers, Jamie Sims, Doc Sims, Albert Sims and Larry Sims; two sisters Mary Jane Jones and Sarah Perry; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted but the family suggests that anyone wishing to honor Mr. Sims with memorials may send them to United Hospice, 708 East 16th Avenue, Cordele, GA 31015
