ELDER, Jack Jack Elder, resident of Fayette County and educator in Atlanta City and Douglas County schools passed away Monday, April 1 6, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents William (Bud) Berry Elder and Minnie Mae Jones Elder and stepmother Jenny Davis Elder, brothers and sisters, Mary Lou Farr, Frances Milam Thompson, Jewel Wilson, John Calvin Elder and Dot Bennett and nieces, Charlene Berey and Sandra Edmondson. Mr. Elder is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Alvin and Brenda Farr; Mae Farr; Catherine Johnson; William and Francine Farr; Donald Farr; Dean and Donna Milam; Diane and Charles Exum; Linda and Harold Hale; Brenda and Larry Gorman; Mary and Rick Lloyd; Martha and Stan Piedra; Mike and Donna Bennett; Cindy and Tom Preis. Mr. Elder is also survived sister-in-law, Betty Elder, brother-in-law, Sam Thompson and nephews-in-law, Jimmy Edmondson and Billy Berey. Jack is survived by 22 great-nieces and nephews and 26 great-great-nieces and nephews. Mr. Elder was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church where he was especially active in youth groups and with the Young At Heart group. The Fayette County Historical Society was also an interest of his. Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 3 o'clock at Sandy Creek Baptist Church with remains placed in state at 2 o'clock. Rev. Barry Barron, Rev. Philip Johnson and Rev. William Norris Hodges officiating. Assisting also will be signer for the deaf, Mrs. Jane Johnston. Interment Sandy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
