Opal G. Cruea, 89, of Piqua, died Friday, March, 14, 2003 at Heartla nd of Piqua Nursing Home. She was born May 13, 1913 in Potsdam, to the la te Earl and Rose (Bond) Cruea (sic -- should be "Arnett"). She married No rbert Cruea, Sr. in Troy, and he died in 1977.
Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Robert (sic: Robert & Marlene Cruea Robbins) of Casper Wyo., Mrs. Frances Kirby of Lima, Patricia and Jack Hughes of Summerville, Tenn., Doris and James Smith of Cookville, Tenn.; three (sic--should be two) sons, Earl Cruea of Piqua, Billy Cruea of New Hampshire; one sister, Mrs. Doris Mill of Ariz.; 33 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.
Opal was preceded in death by one daughter, Rosemary Boles; two sons (Norbert "Sonny" Cruea, Jr. and Virgil Oran Cruea), two grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
Opal was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a cook at Johnson Nursing Home in Troy for 15 years and was a devoted mother and homemaker all her life.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park.
