The obituary below was in the genealogical information of Evelyn Miller Francis. It was typed and there was no source notation. I've transcribed it exactly as it was type-written.
Margaret Crossen Francis
News reached here this week of the death of Mrs. Margaret Francis (better known to her many friends as “Grandma” Francis,) at the home of her eldest daughter, Mrs. A. C. Fairchild. Death was due to a general breakdown of health due to advanced age. She had been in poor health the past several months and was confined to her bed for two weeks, passing away May 31, 1936.
Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday, June 1, and burial was made in the Noxon cemetery, beside her great-grand son, Lowell Mead who passed away a year ago.
Margaret Crossen was born Feb. 19, 1852 at Higgensville, Ill., and was married to Manly C. Francis Sept. 11, 1869 at Mt. Pleasant, Wis. Moving to Ottertail, Minn., in October 1883, they were among the early settlers who came to Montana in the Spring of 1907 and settled on the homestead where they lived until Mr. Francis passed away in 1915, after which she moved to the home of her daughter and went to Noxon, Mont. With them in 1934.
She leaves to mourn the loss of a kind and most loving mother, Lillian Fairchild of Noxon, Ervin Francis of Antelope, George of Hope, Idaho, Sadie Austin of Los Angeles and Stewart, who also lives with his sister Lillian. Grandma Francis gave Eden Valley its name and deep sympathy is extended to the sorrowing relatives by citizens of this community.
