BIOGRAPHY: Donald was the son of Walter O. and Irene Diamond Bowell. Growing to manhood, he attended the local schools and graduated from Abilene High School. On May 25, 1941, he married Evelyn Root. All of their married life was spent farming northwest of Abilene. She preceded him in death on March 7, 2002. On September 20, 2003, he married Norma Hinshaw. All of their married life has been spent in Abilene. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater, a member of the American Legion and a member of Kiwanis.
