She was born in Williamston, SC., and was the daughter of Paul Henry Gossett and Julia (Pinckney) Gossett.
Julia was a 1948 graduate of Erskine College and received her Master's Degree from Clemson University.
She was retired from the Anderson School District One following thirty years of service as a teacher and media specialist.
Mrs. Mize is survived by her son, John Lawerence Mize, daughter, Julie (Mize) Cole.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Henry Gossett and Julia (Pinckney) Gossett, husband, John Lawrence Mize, Jr., sisters, Suzanne (Gossett) Evans and Lavinia (Gossett) McDill.
