Willard L. Laird, 78, of 505 Oaklawn Ave., East Moline, died Monday, June 27, 1994, at Illini Hospital, Silvis, IL.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, East Moline, where he was a member. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline, IL.

There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to In-Touch Day Care Center for Older Adults, Rock Island, IL or Heart Fund.

Mr. Laird was born Oct. 15, 1915, in Metropolis, IL, the son of Robert and Tima Morgan Laird. He married Lewanda Dodd Aug. 29, 1937, in Muscatine, Iowa.

He was employed for 33 years as an auditor in the credit department of John Deere Company in East Moline, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the John Deere Retirees Club.

He was a well-known organist and pianist and enjoyed doing volunteer work with older adults and children.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gary Kane, Manassas, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Georgia Laird, East Moline, IL and Jon and Julia Laird, Moline, IL eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernaline Laird, East Moline, IL; and a brother, Marvin Laird, Moline, IL.
