A proud U.S. Naval veteran and Seabee during the Vietnam War, he had become 100% disabled due to exposure of Agent Orange.
Mr. McMullen was very active in the local community, including being the former Mayor of Hainesport, a member of the Hainesport Planning and Zoning Boards, an Eastampton soccer coach, a CYO baseball coach and supporter, a 4th degree member of the John Tatham Assembly of the Knights of Columbus, and member and usher of the Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church.
Brother of the late Helen McMullen and Donald McMullen, he is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Sue (Gusrang); four children, Veronica M. Sutherland (Karen Clark), Michael J. McMullen Jr. (Maria), Stephen D. McMullen (Holly), Robert J. McMullen (Alison); eleven grandchildren, Breann, Cole, Madisen, Cooper, Genevieve, Amelia, Fiona, Rose, Declan, Kieran, Addison; seven siblings, Mary Ferguson (Harry), John McMullen (Anne Marie), Thomas McMullen (Emma), Catherine Pauler (Stephen), Dorothy Love, Florence Dougherty (James), Patrick McMullen; a mother-in-law, Alice Gusrang; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Thursday, at Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church, 1603 Marne Hwy., Hainesport. Interment will follow in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Friends and relatives may visit with the family 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday and again 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004 or to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr., Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053.
