Elbert received his Bachelors of Divinity from Phillips University of Enid in 1927.
He was a Mason and past President of the Edmond Rotary.
Elbert was the first Pastor of the Davis Park Christian Church in Enid and the founder and first administrator of the Oklahoma Christian Home in Edmond, OK. Elbert was also the organizing Pastor of the Southern Hills Christian Church in Edmond. He had also served congregations in Ardmore, Dallas, Hutchison and Lawton.
Survived by his wife, Nevada of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. David and Giselle Whitwell of Granada Hills, Ca.; one daughter, Dorothy Whitwell Reeves of Phoenix, Az.; grandchildren, Lynette Reeves McCarty, Sharon Reeves, David Reeves, Stefan Whitwell and Florian Whitwell; and seven great grandchildren.
