Watertown- Attorney Oliver J. Wisner, 80 of 135 Michigan Ave, Watertown, died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at his Law Office. He held private practice for many years, and was currently practicing at The 117 Sherman Street Law offices of Jack Scordo and Oliver J. Wisner. He was a partner with The Wisner & Scanlon Law firm in Watertown and also with Lawyer John Hallett.

Born on December 30, 1928, in Evans Mills the son of Carl A. and Mildred L. Covey Wisner. He attended local schools and he graduated from Watertown High School in 1946, from Syracuse University College of Business Administrtion in 1954, and recieved a doctor of law degree from Syracuse University School of Law in 1966. He served in the Army Finance Corps from 1946 to 1947, in the New York ational Guard from 1948-1949, and again with the Army from 1949 to 1952, and served as a staff sergeant overseas in Korea and Greece. He also graduated with a Doctorate in Jurisprudence from Syracuse University in 1984.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 11:00am at the Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home Chapel located at 500 State Street, Carthage with the Reverend David Allison officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Naumburg. Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife Rose Haas an adopted daughter, Heather Wisner and son-in-law Jason Cronk, Watertown; two brothers; Karl P. and his wife Joy Wisner, Black River; Paul and is wife Jeanette Wisner, Watertown; two sisters, Mrs. Muriel Delmore, North Carolina; Mrs. Donald (Alice) Eyre, Uxbridge, Ontario and a very close friend Sharon Slate, Great Bend. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews.

He is predeceased by an infant son, a step-son Kevin, three brothers, David, Richard and Benjamin C., who died June 22, 1944, during the Allied Invasion at Normady during World War II., two sisters Genevieve Bingle; Elaine Eves.

He enjoyed collecting coins and playing chess; he was a history fan, enjoyed reading old newspapers, and speaking several different foreign languages.

He was a member of the Life Church of the Nazarene in Watertown. He was also a member of many organizations throughout the area; The VFW Post 1400, The American Legion Post 0061, The Elks Lodge, The Fraternal order of the Eagles, The Watertown Lions Club, Watertown Masonic Lodge, Media Shriners, Chess Club, Greater Watertown Senior Citizens, Hudson River-Black River Regulating Districts, Adams Center Grange, and a Literacy Volunteer for 10 years at the Dry Hill Prison.
