Services for Jacob C. Mertz, 78, of Boyertown R.D. 1, who died Monday night in Pottstown Medical Center, where he was a patient three weeks, will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m.
The Rev. Norman W. Shollenberger will officiate in the C. L. Losh Funeral Home, Boyertown. Burial will be made in Frieden's Cemetery, Oley.
Born in Rockland Township, a son of the late Sylvanus and Olivia (Christman) Mertz, he had been a self-employed farmer for 30 years before retiring in 1961.
Mr. Mertz was a member of Frieden's United Church of Christ, Oley, and the Liberty of New Berlinville and Gilbertsville fire companies.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary B. (Youse) Mertz in December, 1953.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary L., wife of James Moyer, with whom he last resided, Boyertown R.D. 1; Anna, wife of Frank Dierolf, Gilbertsville, and Olivia, wife of Donald E. Krantz, Birdsboro R.D. 1.
Four sons: Daniel Y., Jacob C. Jr., Oscar and Carl Y., all of Boyertown.
Four sisters: Maggie, wife of Nevus Conrad, and Mrs. Helen Himmelberger, both of Reading; Mrs. Mabel Heck, Sinking Spring R.D. 6, and Catherine, wife of Stanley Romich of Douglassville R.D. 2.
