Beulah Catherine McCroskey Bailey, 87, of Goldbond, VA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday morning, June 28, 2013, at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg, VA. Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Lettie Anne McCroskey, her son, Walter Junior Bailey, husband, William E. Bailey, her four brothers, Jim H. Kirk, William McCroskey, Arnold McCroskey, and Herman "Bud" McCroskey, and sister, Roxie Neice.
Survivors include her daughters, Joyce and Jimmy Purdy of Auburn, Indiana, Brenda and Wade Witt of Pearisburg, VA, Patty Bailey of Pearisburg, VA, and Vickie and Bobby Snider of Ripplemead, VA. Beulah was a loving and proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Beulah was born in Interior, VA on April 16, 1926, in the beautiful mountains of Big Stony Creek. It was there she called home for most of her life. Beulah was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and friend to many; she never met a stranger.
The Family of Beulah Bailey would like to offer a special thanks to all of the staff at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek, VA for all of their loving care during the past three years and Dr. Walker, who took care of Mrs. Bailey during her time at Riverview. A special thanks to all of the nursing staff at Giles Community Hospital- Susan, Mark, Rosita, and Sarah especially and Dr. McMahon, who took care of Beulah during her last days on earth.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 1, 2013 at 2:00 pm in Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm.
