Nancy Jane Bradford, 91, of Portsmouth, a former Minford area resident, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at Hill View Retirement Center in Portsmouth. Born August 7, 1921, in Brown County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Elmer Ernst and Nellie (Brown) West, she was a home economics and business teacher for Brown County, Adams County and Scioto County Schools, and a member of Central Church of Christ in Portsmouth. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Bradford of Minford and Joyce (David) Riepenhoff of Portsmouth; one son, Paul (Sherry) Bradford of Libby, Montana; four grandchildren, Zachary (Hilary) Riepenhoff, Rebecca (David) Widder, Jeremy Bradford, and Todd (Claudia) Bradford; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Widder, Anne Widder and Andrew Riepenhoff; and three brothers, Walter (Sharlee) West of Hillsboro, Kenneth (Sharon) West of Winchester, and Thomas (Judy) West of Rushville. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on April 3, 2002 by her husband, Frederick G. Bradford, whom she married on May 29, 1946 in Brown County. The family would like to thank the staff at Hill View Assisted Living and special caregivers Lisa Wylie and Brenda Dalton for their loving care of our mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Dennis Dawes officiating. Burial will be at Scioto Burial Park in Rushtown. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. The family's favorite charities are the Memorial Fund at Central Church of Christ, 1211 Grandview Avenue, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662 and SOMC Hospice, 2201 25th St. Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.
