William Green Davis married Nancy America Reynolds on November 06, 1851 in Jones, County, Georgia.

W.G. Davis enlisted as a private in Company A, 1st Independent Battalion Georgia State Troops on Oct 21, 1861. He mustered out at Camp Lee near Savannah, Georgia, on May 2, 1862. He enlisted as a private in Company K, 59th Regiment Georgia Infantry on Aug 16, 1862, and was killed in action on Jul 2, 1863 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

A family bible contained two letters that W.G. wrote to his wife shortly before his death.

Six men in his mess were:

John P. Waldron - Died in Bibb County, Georgia, date not given.
William H. Waldron - Surrendered at Appomattox, Virginia, April 9, 1865.
John J. Hollomon - Died of typhoid pneumonia in Crawford County, Georgia, September 7, 1864.
George W. Holloman - Captured at Knoxville, Tennessee, November 29, 1863.
Madison Long - Killed in action at Funkstown, Maryland, July 10, 1863.
Joseph S. McGee - Surrendered at Appomattox, Virginia, April 9, 1865.

Larry M. Davis was the provider for much of this research, may he rest in peace.

Note- W.G. had a brother whose middle name was Holloman.
