Late deputy Council from the court of France to the United States of America, d. 12 Oct 1847, in 56th yr.

Born in France. Served in French Army under Napoleon in both Spain and Russia. In 1814, posted to Dublin after Napoleon's dethronement. Then transferred to post of deputy consul to New York City where he served from 1825-1839. An 1839 transfer to Boston is on record, however it is unclear whether he went there and if he did, how long he stayed. He had a country estate in Woodbridge to which he retired due to illness in the years leading up to his death.

Married Sep 1825. Father of at least nine children: Elizabeth Edmire (died young), Zelma Catherine (died young), Alexandrine (1st marriage to F.A. Brunel, distiller; 2nd Joseph Van Winkle), Alphonse E. W. (1st marriage to Georgiana Sheldon, 2nd to Mary Catherine Farmington, 3rd Caroline), Louise M. (died young), Zulma Edmie, Elizabeth C. (married William Mabury Birch), daughter E.A., and Mary E.
