Betty Louise Kennon, 83, of Hickory Ridge, AR., died Wednesday., June 26, 2013.
Born at Hickory Ridge, AR., to J.M. and Lillie Eason, Betty was a longtime member of the Hickory Ridge Church of Christ. She graduated from Hickory Ridge High School as valedictorian of her class in 1948. Betty retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1992 after 35 years of service. At the time of her retirement she was postmaster of the Hickory Ridge Post Office. She enjoyed going to church, spending time with her grandchildren, traveling and working in her flower gardens.
She is survived by her children, Tillman Kennon (Elaine) of Hickory Ridge, Stevie Kennon of Orlando, Fla., Marsha Cukr (Bill) of Highland Village, Texas, and Michele Degani (Neal) of Dallas; and three grandchildren, Molly Kennon, Sam Cukr and Zoe Degani.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Pershing "Mickey" Kennon; her parents, JM and Lillie Eason; her brothers, Joe, Dan and Mac Eason; and her sister, Modean Edwards.
Funeral services were held at the Hickory Ridge Church of Christ. Burial was in Lewis Cemetery. Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
