Thomas Drake was born April 16, 1635 at Colyton, Devon, England to William and Margaret Westover Drake. He was baptized there at St. Andrews' Church September 13, 1635. His parents being dead, he followed his relative, John Drake of Taunton, Massachusetts and Windsor, Connecticut, to America about 1653 or 1654, accompanied by his sisters, Joanne and Elizabeth, becoming our immigrant ancestor. They soon settled in Weymouth, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. Thomas married Jane Holbrook in 1655 at Weymouth and their children were: Thomas, John, William, Joseph, Amy, Elizabeth and Benjamin. He is first listed in 1663 on the Weymouth records as a land owner. In 1667 he was a member of the Suffolk Troopers. He took an active part in King Philip's War and June 24, 1676 was a member of the garrison at Punckapouge where he saw at least 2 months' service. His wife Jane died in 1679 at Weymouth and he married Millicent Ford, widow of a man named Carver, on March 9, 1681. They had one daughter named Experience. Thomas died at the age of 57 September 23, 1692 at Weymouth. He is presumed buried in Weymouth. His estate was settled in 1692 and was valued at 237 pounds, 2 shillings and 2 pence.
