Dolly Grant was born 1787 in Brunswick County, Virginia. She married, Wyatt Lee, a widower with three small children. They were listed in the 1810 VIRIGINA CENSUS in Dinwiddie County. Wyatt Lee was head of household with a wife and 4 young children (Dolly, her 3 stepchildren, James, Nancy and Elizabeth "Buckey" and Dolly's first child, Sarah "Sallie").
Dolly and Wyatt were in Georgia before 1820 and living in Clarke County south of Athens near the township of Watkinsville. They were still there when the 1820 and 1830 census were taken. Dolly raised three stepchildren and had ten children of her own. Her stepdaughter, Elizabeth "Buckey", was a special needs child and still living at home when Dolly died in 1832.
(Note: The Lees lived in an area of Clarke County that was located in Oconee County when it was created in 1875.)
