RICHFIELD – Charles Orval Carstensen, 71, of Richfield, died Wednesday in a local hospital of a heart attack.
Mr. Carstensen was born April 21, 1899, in Ogden, a son of Charles M. and Mary Anderson Carstensen.
He was married to Lynn Jones on July 25, 1928, in Parowan, Utah.
He owned the Slice ‘em Thin’s Restaurant and Johnston Hotel since 1935.
He was a member of Sevier County Selective Service Local Board, past president of Sevier County Fair Board, member of the board of directors of Sevier Valley Chapter, Utah Historical Society. He was a veteran of World War I and served an LDS mission to Holland in 1924.
Surviving are his widow, the following sons and daughters: Charles Rodney Carstensen, Richfield; Dr. Richard Orval Carstensen, San Diego; Mrs. Neal (Mary Jane) Mortensen,
Peoa, Utah; Mrs. Richard P. (Patti) Haslam, Ephraim; 12 grandchildren, the following sisters: Mrs. W. C. (Jetta) Jones, Huntsville; Mrs. Edward (Lorna) Anderson, Pleasant
View; Mrs. Conrad (Ruth) Stanley, Ogden.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Sevier Stake Tabernacle.
Friends may call at the family home in Central tonight from 7 to 9 and Saturday at the
Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary before services. Burial in Richfield City Cemetery.
