She was born February 28, 1917, a daughter of Phileon Benjamin and Dorothy Clapp Robinson in Iona, Idaho. She married Philip Melvin Steen October 4, 1939, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a Relief Society and Primary president. She taught ward genealogy classes, she also taught genealogy classes at the BYU Library. She donated much of her time to the genealogy library in Salt Lake City.
