Gwen L. Boyd, 72, of Eastland, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013 in Ranger. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Eastland with Dr. Shawn Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland on Wednesday from 5~8:00 p.m.

Gwen was born October 25, 1940 in Gorman to E.E. (Gene) and Verda (Greer) Millican. She grew up in Carbon, moving to Aspermont in her Freshman year, graduating in 1958. She married Charles E. Boyd on June 11, 1959 in Aspermont, moving to Clarksville, TN that same year. For two years in the Army, Charles and Gwen lived in Las Cruces, NM where he was stationed at White Sands Missile Range. Upon his discharge in 1974 they moved to Garland. They lived in Rowlett, Tempe, AZ, moving to Eastland in 2000. She was an Administrative Assistant and had worked for Texas Instruments on and off for 25 years. She additionally worked 10 years working in outside sales for Hallmark Electronics. In Eastland, she enjoyed being a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eastland, which she loved, and enjoyed her Sunday School class. She enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as fishing, and all sports, especially the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. She felt the most important job of her life was being a wife and mother and her greatest delight was being a grandmother.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Gene & Verda Millican; her in-laws, Pete & Callie Boyd; brother, Virgil Gene Millican; sister, Clara Dwayne Dool; brother-in-law, Tommy Boyd; and sister-in-law, Jean Clark.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Boyd of Eastland; sons, Perry Boyd & wife Carole of Azle and Patrick Boyd of Eastland; grandsons, Taylor Boyd of Watauga and Trevor Boyd of Azle; granddaughter, Kelli Griffin of Ft. Worth; 2 great-grandsons; 3 great-granddaughters; sisters, Paulette Douglass, Betty Davis & husband Jim, Barbara Rossander, and Kay Butler & husband Randy all of Eastland; sister & brother-in-laws, Betty & Bill Carr of Oklahoma City, OK, Clarice & Red Tucker of Regan, OK, Marice & Mary Boyd of Hilton, OK, Joyce & Ron Roberts of Poteau, OK, Charles Clark of Aspermont, and Novice Boyd of Tishomingo, OK.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff of the Ranger Care Center, and very special thanks to Cindy Burleson and Amanda Evans of Lighthouse Hospice.
