Mattie 'Julia' Auzston

Mattie "Julia" Auzston, 82, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2002, at The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. A Chapel Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2002, in the Memorial Room of Broadway Funeral Home, Galveston with Rev. Joe Hause, Pastor of West Isle Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow services Wednesday at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Alta Loma, Texas. Mrs. Auzston's family
will be receiving friends for visitation on Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in the West Garden Chapel of Broadway Funeral Home, Galveston. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening after 5:00 p.m.

Although born in Anahuac, Texas, September 4, 1919, Julia has been a resident of Galveston Island for many years. Living on the west end of Galveston gave her an opportunity for island living with a country flare. She enjoyed taking care of animals and raising chickens and was able to do so from her home. Julia also had other interests, however, her special interests and hobbies most dear to her, were knitting and crocheting.

She leaves behind many beautiful family heirlooms and treasures from her countless hours of handiwork.

Mrs. Auzston is predeceased in death by her husband, Joseph David Auzston, Sr. and also one of her sons, Frank Lee Auzston, Sr. She leaves behind many fond memories with her children, Mattie Julia "Sissie" Luse and husband, Tommy of Galveston, Gayle Praker and husband,
Billy of Galveston, Joseph David "Sonny" Auzston, Jr.
and wife, Julianne of Galveston and Gary Kenneth Auzston, Sr. also of Galveston. Sharing in this loss, also are Mrs. Auzston's 19 very loving grandchildren, most especially her twin granddaughters, 33 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Saddened, too, by her leaving, are Mrs. Auzston's 3 sisters, Agnes Reed of Bacliff, Alice David and husband, Mike of Alta Loma and Carroll Lee Colley of Galveston, numerous nieces
and nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.

She will forever be remembered in the hearts of those that knew her and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Carroll Hecklinger, Karon Kershaw, Cindy Flores, Tammy Auzston, Frank Garibaldi, III, Gary Auzston, Jr. and Lorretta Powell. Honorary

Pallbearers will be Mikie Praker, William Praker, III and Tommy Luse, III.
