Edith Luckett, mother of Nancy Davis Reagan, was the 5th generational decendant of Samuel Luckett and Elizabeth Hussey of Charles County, (Port Tobacco) Maryland. Young Edith Luckett married Kenneth Seymour Robbins, son of George Robbins and Anne Ayers Francis. The couple's first child, Anne Frances Robbins, would later alter her name as she was nicknamed Nancy by her mother and used that name throughout her life. Edith immediately resumed her acting career and began traveling a great deal, leaving Nancy in Bethesda, Maryland, where she was raised by Edith’s sister and brother-in-law. Nancy saw little of her mother over the next five years and had no contact with her father; her parents divorced in 1928. Edith Luckett Robbins - Davis would become the mother-in-law of our late beloved President, Ronald Wilson Reagan. Edith married her second husband, Dr. Loyal Davis on May 20, 1929 in Chicago, IL. Dr. Davis soon adopted Nancy, who was then raised in Chicago.
