FAIRMONT — Mary Madelon Flynn, 82, of Bradenton, Fla., passed away Sunday (Dec. 12, 2010) at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.

She was born Nov. 5, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio, a daughter of the late William Warner and Lela Conley Flynn and her stepmother, Elizabeth Flynn.

Ms. Flynn was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Barrackville and Calvary Baptist Church in Bradenton, Fla. She was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, Philadelphia Bible College and the School of Nursing at Monongalia General Hospital. She served as a missionary for the United World Mission of Charlotte, N.C., spending four years in Cuba and 45 years in Mali and West Africa. Ms. Flynn spent her retirement years at the Bradenton Missionary Village, Il Villaggo, where she had many close friends.

Survivors include her sister, Billie Frances Honaker and her husband Dean of Bunner's Ridge Community; one nephew, Steven Honaker and his wife Mary of Bunner's Ridge; three nieces, Joellen Ralphsnyder and her husband Grayg of Elkview, Leela Honaker of Bunner's Ridge, and Jennifer Carpenter and her husband Roger of Bunner's Ridge; close family, Bob and Karen Whinnie of Fairmont; and great-nieces and -nephews, Laura and Amy Honaker, Shayn Ralphsnyder, Jessica and Mackayla Ralphsnyder, Justin Ralphsnyder, Hanna, Hailee and Levi Carpenter, Kelly McVicker and Bobby Whinnie.

The family of Ms. Flynn would like to give special thanks to all the people and churches that supported her mission work throughout the years.

Friends may call Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Rex Musgrove and Pastor Harley Mayfield officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
