Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2013, the Marine Corps Birthday, at Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery in Brema Bluff, Virginia at 2PM .
Harry Marshall was an American Patriot. He was loved and will be missed. A personification of "American by Birth, Southern by the Grace of God." Harry was related to Supreme Court Chief Justice John Marshall and Gen. George Marshall of WWII fame. Harry was the great grandson of Civil War Colonel Charles Marshall who was at the surrender at Appomattox and who drafted Lee's Farewell Order. Of course most of us know that as a Marine, Harry was wounded in Vietnam where he was in the minority in his company in that he was one of the few who could still walk out after a particularly fierce battle.
Harry was thankful for his lineage. He clearly understood what it meant to be an American and understood the sacrifices required for us to keep that privilege. Harry, you can now execute the common to "Stack Arms." In as much as you have served the Lord, your nation, your family and have been an example to all of us of what a true gentleman is, your mission is now complete. Go rest. SEMPER FI.
He was preceded in death by his father Harry T. Marshall, Jr.
For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the River of Life Missions Fund, 116 Scott Rd, Eatonton, GA 31024.
