Mr. Ray Underwood Sr., age 96, of Widener, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at his daughter's house in Hughes. Mr. Underwood was born Aug. 7, 1910, in Centerville the son of Matt Underwood and Susie Tillman Underwood. He was a farmer and a Baptist. Mr. Underwood married Theo Hillard in 1928 and she preceded him in death in 1990. He is survived by two sons, Gerene Underwood of Tennessee and Jimmy Carol Underwood of Illinois; five daughters, Alice Duncan of Fulton, Miss., Patsy Tate of Hughes, Betty Sue Rose of Marion and Lois Mullvain and Hazel Leffelman both of Illinois; a brother, Lee Underwood of California; 27 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Bud Underwood and Leon Underwood and a daughter, Vera Underwood. Visitation for Mr. Underwood will be held on tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2007, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion.
