Bonnie Bowling Carter, 73, formerly of Catlettsburg, KY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2013, in Wilmington, NC.
Ms. Carter was born February 4, 1940 in Catlettsburg, daughter of the late John Oliver Bowling and the late Julia Wooten Armstrong . Bonnie was a 1958 graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School. She worked in the office at Urology Center of Northeastern Kentucky. Bonnie loved quilting, sewing, and making ceramics.
Surviving are her children; Lisa Dixon, her husband, Dr. Tim, of Ashland, KY, Bobbi Carter of Colbert, GA, Steven Carter of Ashland, KY, Janet Martin of Hendersonville, TN, and Julie Mallin, her husband, Jim, of Wilmington, NC. Grandchildren; Dr. Justin Dixon (Dr. Grace), of New Haven, CT, Allison Dixon Brumfield, Esq. (Brian), of Lexington, KY, Clayton and Reese Berrang, of Colbert, GA, Tiffany Martin (Mark), of Maryville, TN, Clinton Jacob Carter (Autumn), of Greenback, TN, Ashley Carter, of Ashland, KY, SSG Larry Wayne Martin, Jr. (Austine), of Fort Greely, AK, SSG Jared L. Martin, of Fort Hood, TX, Josh, Jack and Jenny Mallin, of Wilmington, NC. Nine great grandchildren, Bonnie’s 9th great grandchild was born the same day Bonnie passed away (Olivia Kate Martin, born in Knoxville, TN), brother; John Oliver Bowling, Jr. (Annette), of Knoxville, TN.
Preceding in death were her parents, and brother, James Walter Bowling.
A memorial service to celebrate Ms. Carter’s life will be at 6:30pm, Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola Street in Catlettsburg. Friends may call from 5:30 until service time Friday evening at the Funeral Home.
