Will of Samuel Paschal Sr.

Will Book 1, page (315) 2nd day of November 1805.

To all whom it may concern be it known -- that Samuel Paschal of the District of Abbeville and State of South Carolina, being in the full enjoyment of my Season, but aware of my mortality and the duty incumbent on men to be both in a moral and temporal view prepared for death -----

Do make and ordain my last will and Testament as follows . Viz. After the expense of the descent interment of my B ody at the discreation of my Exectors and the payment of m y just debts according to Law, i give and bequeath.

1st. To my beloved Wife Fereby during her natural life, m y land and plantation on which I now live with all the work ing Tools, household furniture and stock of all kinds, toge ther with my two Negroes Bob and Jenny ----

2nd. John HAMMOCK once my soninlaw and who has received li berally of me already one dollar, and to my grandsons Samue l, William, Elijah, and Paschal HAMMOCK each one dollar.

3rd. To my grand daugter Berby HAMMOCK one Negro girl named Patience, one cow, one trunk.

4th. To my daughter Mary CHADWICK two hundred dollars.

5th. To my son William one dollar.

6th To my son John one dollar.

7th To my daughter Rachel COLE one dollar.

8th. To my daughter Sarah CLOVER my Negro woman named Winny , but she must return her back to my executors the sum of one hundred dollars.

9th. To my daughter Susan LOFTIES one dollar.

10th. To my daughter Nancy BELL, my Negro woman Jenny, but she must return back to my executors the sum of one hundr ed dollars.

11th. To my daughter Mildred COTHAN (COCHRAN??) one dollar.

12th. To my daughter Betty VALANDINGHAM one dollar.

13th. To my daughter Fereby LOFTIES, my Negro girl Dinah.

14th. To my son Samuel one dollar.

15th. To my youngest son Milton, my Negroes Bob, Milly On which I now live, households funiture, plantation, tools an d stock of all kinds at my own and my Wife's death to hol d forever -------

16th. To my Grand son Samuel PASCHAL, son of Milton PASCHA L my Negro girl named Judey.

17th. To my Wife Fereby, my Negro girl Amey to be her Property forever and to be disposed of as she pleases.

In witness to and ratification of all which I subscribe m y name and affix my seal to his Will eighteenth day of Jul y eightteen hundred and five.

I do ordain and appoint to execute this Will Col. Joseph CO LHOUN, my son Samuel and my son Milton as witness my hand a nd seal the day and year above written.
