Actor. A performer, writer and director for Broadway, he was the first President of Actors’ Equity Association (1913-1920). Some of the original productions he appeared in were “Erminie” (1886), “Cyrano de Bergerac” (1899), and ”When Knights Were Bold” (1907). He wrote and performed in “The Bachelor’s Baby” (1909) and “The Spiritualist” (1913 – also directed). He was married to actress Edna Bruns.
